🎙 The Your Land Life Podcast

Leaving ships isn’t just about finding a job, it’s about figuring out who you are next.

It’s about knowing who you are without your ship title, working out what “home” really means on land, and how to transition into a life that makes sense on land - practically and emotionally.  Most crew don’t struggle because they lack motivation.  They struggle because they need reassurance, perspective, and proof that they’re not alone in this transition.

No one really talks about what comes after the decision, this new phase of who you’ll be, what it will feel like, and how you even begin.  That’s where the Your Land Life Podcast comes in.

You can read advice about leaving ships or you can hear it from crew who’ve already stepped off, sat in the uncertainty, figured things out, and rebuilt life on land in their own way.

Each episode shares real stories, practical insights, mindset shifts, and honest “oh… that’s normal” moments that make the move from ship to shore feel less overwhelming and far more possible.

Episodes are short, relatable, and designed for breaks, cabin time, or vacation days so you can start shaping your next chapter even while you’re still at sea.

🎧 Start listening today, because hearing how others did it makes your next step feel possible.

Every crew member who’s ever wondered what comes next has stood exactly where you are now.  The difference?

You’re starting to look for a way forward and how this can actually work for you.  This is your starting point.

Ready For Your Next Step?

You already know ship life doesn’t last forever. Lately, the idea of “just doing another contract” feels heavier than it used to. The little irritations onboard are getting louder. Vacation feels better. And settling somewhere starts to feel more appealing than it ever did before.

Yet when you try to figure out what you could do next, writing a resume, exploring job options, or even getting your online profiles ready it all feels harder than it should be. Not because you lack experience (you have a huge amount of it), but because no one has ever shown you how to translate everything you’ve done into something that actually makes sense off ships. And adding to that an environment that doesn’t give you space or perspective to work it out, so the pressure builds, as you keep thinking and feeling I don’t want to make the wrong move. I want this to work out.

When you’re ready to move forward with certainty and confidence, the options below are designed to help you do exactly that.

From “I hope this resume works” to applying with confidence.

For crew who are ready to leave ships, know the type of job they want on land, and now need the tools to get hired.

Inside Hired, your resume and cover letter are professionally done for you, so you don’t have to guess how to present your ship experience or worry whether land-based employers will understand it.

You’ll know exactly how to talk about your background, what to say in interviews, and how to position yourself as a strong candidate not “just ship crew.”

No generic templates.  No trial and error.  Just the right tools, set up properly, so you can apply with confidence and move through the hiring process knowing you’re presenting yourself well.

âžś This is the fast, practical path from ship life to a land job offer.

Hello from Your Land Life...

Hi, I’m Alex, and I help ship crew discover their next job, next career and transition to their land life.

How did I get here? I am a Chef  turned Ship Crew turned Career Coach who loves getting as much out of life as possible.

I spent an incredible 20 years at sea, working on cruise ships → private yachts → back to cruise ships, yet when it was time for me to move onto land I had many of the same thoughts you are having now.

I was once unfulfilled and unhappy with my ship life, wondering what I can do next. how can I figure that out, and make the change with certainty and confidence.

As regular career change coaches do not understand ship life nor life coaches there was a very big gap for ship crew to get support in what is a massive transition.

I love helping others recognize & walk the path of possibility and opportunity.  Nothing is impossible in life - to me that word needs a grammer change to read:  I'm possible

With a background in human behaviour, positive Psychology and recruitment it became a natural step for me to create Your Land Life.

Figuring out your next job or career is easier and enjoyable when you have the right mindset, strategy and support - this is my area of expertise. My wish is you say YES to you and start discovering what your land life can be.
